Canals Playmaker
Usually starts around Canals, T Spawn, Water-side routes, Mid support timings or late A/B connections depending on spawn, default structure and the opening plan. Can change responsibilities with the Mid player, B extremity, A lurker or AWPer between rounds, especially when the team wants to pressure Water, split B, threaten Connector or create uncertainty before choosing the final bombsite. Canals control can become B pressure, Water control, Mid support, Connector timing or a late lurk that keeps CT rotations uncomfortable.
Pathings and possibilities from starting Canals / Water
- Pressure Water / Canals with teammate utility to deny CT control and create early space. (Aggressive)
- Hold Canals passively to punish CT pushes, protect the default and preserve late-round options. (Defensive)
- Reconnect with B Main, Mid, Connector or A/B splits according to CT reactions. (Situational)
Pathings and possibilities from starting Mid / support routes
- Support Mid fights with flashes and trade spacing from Canals timing
- Move into Water to split CT attention between Mid and B
- Delay Canals presence to punish rotations or create a late-round timing
Mid-round patterns
- Control Canals / Water as the bridge between Mid and B, making it difficult for CTs to read whether the pressure is becoming a B hit, Mid split, Connector play or late rotation. Decide whether to fight forward, hold for aggression or reconnect with teammates according to utility, sound and teammate progress. It makes sense in default rounds where the T side wants flexibility before committing to a bombsite.
- Play as the Water / B split enabler, using Canals control to create timing against the B Anchor and Connector rotator. The player can pressure Water, punish rotations and arrive late enough to catch defenders looking toward B Main or Mid. This makes sense when the team is building toward a B finish, when Water control is contested or when the round needs a second layer of pressure.
- Lurk around Canals / Water to punish CT information plays and keep rotations trapped. The goal is not always to be first contact, but to create doubt, cut off movement or force defenders to clear one more dangerous timing before rotating. The setup fits when the team pressures A or Mid, when CTs over-rotate away from B or when the round depends on late map control.
- Reconnect with A / Mid pressure after forcing attention around Canals and Water. This can make the CT side hesitate between reinforcing B, watching Connector or preparing for an A finish. It is practical when the T side wants to fake B pressure, punish passive CT setups or turn Canals control into a stronger late-round split.
