AWPer
Usually starts around Mid, Arch, Long, Short, Banana, CT or Library depending on spawn, opponent tendencies and the defensive setup. Can change responsibilities with the A players, B support, Arch rotator or Banana players between rounds, especially when the team wants to contest Mid, deny Banana control, punish slow defaults or play a more passive pick-oriented round. The player in the role defines how safely Ts can take space on Inferno: the AWPer can punish early Mid pressure, slow Banana fights, hold long rotation lines and force the T side to spend utility before they can build a clean execute.

About these averages
Metric: all archived map-side rows with the exact Inferno CT “Awper” label. Timeframe: 2024-12-18 to 2026-08-28. Sample: n=4,473.

Pathings and possibilities from starting Mid / A-side
- Fight Mid / Top Mid / Second Mid lines with teammate utility to deny early T control. (Aggressive)
- Hold passive Arch / Long / Library angles to gather information and punish slow defaults. (Defensive)
- Reposition toward Short, Pit support, Banana or CT according to pressure and teammate information. (Situational)
Pathings and possibilities from starting Banana / B-side
- Hold deep Banana or Half Wall lines to punish early T pressure
- Support the B players with long-range contact and safe fallback routes
- Fall back toward CT / Coffins when utility forces the AWP off the first angle
Pathings and possibilities from starting Arch / Rotation
- Control Long and Mid rotation paths
- Support A players against Short / Apps pressure
- Rotate quickly toward B when Banana pressure becomes the main threat
Mid-round patterns
- Control Mid with the AWP through Top Mid, Arch, Long or Library presence, making it difficult for Ts to take A control without utility. Decide whether to fight forward, hold the cross, fall back or rotate according to flashes, smokes and teammate spacing. It works when the CT side wants early information, strong A control or a first-pick opportunity.
- Support Banana from CT / Coffins / Half Wall lines, helping the B players survive pressure without giving Ts an easy trade. The goal is often to delay, punish the first exposed player or force Ts to spend extra utility before committing. This makes sense when Ts are contesting Banana heavily, when the B support needs help or when the CT side wants to stabilize B without fully stacking it.
- Rotate between Arch, Library, CT and B according to pressure and timing cues. The assignment has to read whether the T side is really committing, forcing utility or just trying to pull the AWP away from the correct bombsite. The setup fits slow defaults, fake-heavy rounds or situations where the CT side needs the AWP to keep both sites playable.
- Reposition constantly after contact, avoiding predictable AWP lines and forcing Ts to clear multiple layers before they can execute. This keeps the AWP valuable even without an opening kill, because the threat itself can slow defaults, delay utility and make every T-side rotation more expensive. Teams choose it in late-round situations, passive setups or rounds where the AWPer needs to create pressure without overcommitting.
