A Anchor
Usually starts on Mid / Donut / A Site. Can change roles with the Mid player or AWPer between rounds (ultimately decided by utility, spawn and the strat being played). Can also start on B to create false information or bait setups. Often responsible for dropping or reallocating utility across the map (Mid and B smokes) since A setups commonly rely more on retake structure, positioning and early damage than on heavy utility investment.

About these averages
Metric: all archived map-side rows with the exact Ancient CT “A Anchor” label. Timeframe: 2024-12-18 to 2026-08-28. Sample: n=5,756.

Pathings and possibilities from starting Mid
- Go out Mid and fight toward Mid or B Lane (Aggressive)
- Drop into Donut to gather information or deny Mid aggression (Defensive)
- Support Mid fights from Window and rotate accordingly (Situational)
Pathings and possibilities from starting Donut / A Site
- Move into Donut to gather sound information and be ready to trade
- Support Mid fights from A Site with flashbangs
- Hold A Site with utility, setups and strong positioning
Mid-round patterns
- Anchor A Site through strong positioning and utility usage while staying close to fast rotation paths according to gathered information. Set up with teammates. This makes sense when information clearly points toward an A hit, advantage situations or rounds that do not require gambles or info plays.
- Anchor A Site from Donut. Stay connected to Mid through the crossfire (this frees your Mid player/AWPer to rotate according to the information gathered and often lets the team keep three players on B without heavily weakening A control) or set up with a teammate to hold this space. Teams use it to play retake-oriented situations, attempt to get one kill on the A entry and fall back safely afterward.
