B Anchor
Usually starts around B Site, Monster, Barrels, Pillar, Water or Short-side support positions. Can occasionally start closer to Water or Connector to help early map control before falling back into the bombsite. The player in the role has to manage some of the fastest and most punishing pressure on Overpass: Monster hits, Short splits and Water control can collapse B very quickly if the anchor wastes utility or gives up the wrong timing. The main job is to delay, survive and make the entry path as uncomfortable as possible.
Pathings and possibilities for B starts
- Fight Monster or Water with flash support to deny early space and punish fast T pressure. (Aggressive)
- Hold B Site passively with anti-rush utility, strong positioning and crossfires. (Defensive)
- Support Short / Water fights and rotate back into B according to the information gathered. (Situational)
Mid-round patterns
- Anchor B Site through strong positioning and utility usage while adapting to the amount of Monster, Short and Water control Ts have taken. Set up with teammates when possible and decide whether to play Pillar, Barrels, Graffiti, back site or Monster-side according to pressure and remaining utility. Expect this when information clearly points toward a B hit, advantage situations or rounds where the CT side wants to keep a stable defensive structure.
- Anchor B around Monster control, using smokes, molotovs and flashbangs to delay the main entry path and force Ts into bad timing. The goal is often to buy time rather than win the entire fight alone. It fits when Ts are likely to finish through Monster, when the CT side has rotations available or when the team wants to avoid giving up a clean plant.
- Re-clear or pressure Monster / Water in the mid-round to recover information and deny late B hits. This can allow the CT side to rotate extra players toward A or stack B with more confidence. Teams choose it when Ts slow down after early pressure, when B has been quiet for too long or when the CT side needs a proactive move in disadvantage situations.
