A Main
Usually works around the A Main entrance and the nearby outer-yard trains, with depth changing according to spawn, weapon and the Popdog, Ivy and AWPer setup. This player denies a clean T Main exit, counts how much support is behind the first contact and keeps the inner A lanes from collapsing at once. The role can fight forward, hold a train-side crossfire or fall toward the site, but every choice must stay connected to at least one teammate.

About these averages
Metric: all archived map-side rows with the exact Train CT “A Main” label. Timeframe: 2024-12-18 to 2026-08-28. Sample: n=1,479.
Source: CSdex V1 aggregate performance archive. Fallback: no fuzzy role-label mapping. Risk: the average describes the archive, not the correct target for every team or round.
Opening options
- Contest T Main with a supported peek or incendiary sequence, then leave before the full trade pack arrives (Aggressive)
- Hold a protected line across the exit and make the attackers clear the outer-yard trains one layer at a time (Defensive)
- Give early space and prepare a crossfire with Popdog, the AWPer or the deeper A defender when the T utility signals a set piece (Situational)
Mid-round decisions
- Track whether T Main pressure includes the bomb, a full group or only enough presence to pin A. That count determines whether teammates can lean toward Ivy or B.
- After losing the entrance, choose one clear layer to defend. Moving between trains without a trade or fallback often exposes the player to both T Main and Popdog.
- On a late A hit, delay the plant path and stay alive for the retake lanes. The outer site gives many angles, but isolated swings let Ts simplify it into one duel at a time.
What breaks the structure
- Fighting T Main after the support flash and fallback timing have already passed
- Watching the entrance while Popdog or Ivy pressure reaches the same train from the side
What to study in the POV
- The opening position relative to Popdog, Ivy and the AWPer
- How the player counts bodies and utility before calling a rotation
- The fallback train and next crosshair line after T Main control is lost
